NYLON 500D: Resistant, durable fabric Abrasion-resistant and ripstop with a matt finish. Waterproof with a polyurethane inner coating.

STANDARDS: CE-EN 1621

The back protection is targeted by this standard. The back protectors must undergo five impacts of 50 J, including two on points deliberately chosen for their apparent weakness (joints, etc.) The tests will take place in a controlled environment, then modified according to temperatures and humidity. Their performances are subdivided into two levels: level 1, the average residual force must be less than 18 kN, with an allowed impact of up to 24 kN. Level 2, the average residual force must be less than 9 kN, with an allowed impact of up to 12kN. On the other hand, some experts consider that, due to the type of impactor used and the specificities of the spine, 4 kN would be the limit to adopt to simulate the fracture threshold in these test conditions. Given the level of requirements of this standard, few back protectors are approved to EN 1621-2.
